A Study on Implementation of Generic Medicine Policy in Selected Countries

Abstract:

Generic medicines are clinically similar with original brand medicines and have the same quality, efficacy and safety profiles. They are much cheaper in price. Therefore, the excellence use of generic medicines is indorsed in many countries. In this paper, we studied the role of generic medicines in healthcare systems and try to explore how generic medicines promoting their usage in selected countries (United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), Sweden, Finland, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand, India). To effectively and successfully implement the chief policy, different paired policies and creativities were essentially presented. Every countries has their own barriers to promote the generic medicine and negative perception of generic medicine to absence of an intelligible generic medicine policy, though organisers included availability of information.
